In addition to the features offered by the hermetically sealed units, other forms include oil immersed, water cooled units, designed with high level interference screening, air insulated transformers up to 30kV DC working, and resin cast coil transformers to 160kV DC working.

Transformers may be air, or water cooled, mineral-oil, Midel or Silicone-fluid filled, hermetically sealed, or free breathing.

Air insulated units are practical for applications where space is limited, or where fluid dielectrics are unacceptable.

Individual windings and leads can be completely screened for full electrostatic isolation, while both fixed and portable constructions are available .These can incorporate such features as insulating tanks to enable the transformers to be integrated as part of a complex processing equipment.
